Easy Listening / Hamilton Leithauser

Remember that band The Walkmen? Well they’re back. At least their sound is. While the collective group hasn’t released an album since 2012, frontman Hamilton Leithauser is about to make some waves with his solo record. Just released today is “11 O’Clock Friday Night”, off Hamilton’s soon to be released ‘Black Hours‘. This is the debut album from Hamilton, and from what we hear in the two songs already published, it’s going to be a must listen record. Keep up right here.

Easy Listening / Step Rockets

Hailing from the Twin Cities, Step Rockets is a 4 piece indie band, “exploring psychedelia, modern hooks, and fat grooves”. At least that’s what they think. Their sound feels at home with contemporary indie rock, but has hints of nostalgia aligning with Michael Jackson and Thin Lizzy. ‘Kisser’ hit #1 on Hype Machine just 13 days after its release. Listen here and you’ll know why. Keep up here.

Easy Listening / Cathedrals

Continuing the string of great female vocalists in indie bands (cite: Daughter, Chvrches), is Cathedrals. The San Francisco born band just recently released their second single ‘Harlem’, which you can check out right here. With mellow, sway worthy-slow dance beats, and a voice sent from the heavens, we’re betting Cathedrals shows up on more than a few 2014 festival line-ups. Place your bets now. Keep up here.
