Well This is New..

Want to see your favorite band but, checked the tour dates, and they’re not hitting your city? Buy a ticket to an imaginary tour date, and the music fairy may just make your dreams come true.

Fans of the Foo Fighters in Richmond, Virginia have taken matters into their own hands and done exactly that. Via CrowdFunder, some die hard Foo fans bought $50 tickets for the yet-to-be-confirmed tourdate, and then they convinced some of their friends to buy $50 tickets, then they convinced some businesses to buy $50 tickets.. and yesterday the Foo Fighters confirmed – ok guys, we’ll come.

The date is TBD but the Foo Fighters will officially return to RVA after 16 years. The full story is right here.

In Memoriam: Radio Icon, Casey Kasem

Radio icon, Saved by the Bell regular and the best 80’s sweater wearer (next to Bill Cosby) has passed away. Casey Kasem, a Detroit native, was the longtime host of radio’s American Top 40, among countless other projects & work, among them being the voice of Shaggy, on Scooby Doo.

Casey Kasem – thank you for being the voice introducing us to new music, the DJ at the dance parties at The Max, and the character of one of our favorite classic cartoons ever. Casey Kasum, April 27, 1932 – June 15, 2014.

Easy Listening / Jungle

Pegged as one of the most allusive bands of 2013, is Jungle ready to show their faces? Maybe. Or we could keep the mystery alive and you could try to guess which ones of twelve individuals pictured on their website are actually making the music. Maybe it’s none of them.

One way or another the cat may be out of the bag – with a tour scheduled across Europe underway, and their first album being released on July 15th, we will soon be well acquainted with Jungle. Make sure you’re in the know by listening below, and connecting here.

Detroit Named “Bar City of the Year”

While Detroit already has a few titles… ‘Detroit Rock City’ and ‘Motor City’ among them, the midwestern hub now has a new one: ‘Bar City of the Year’. In an article to be printed in Esquire‘s June/July issue, the esteemed mag deems Detroit the new it-spot for drinking.

Esquire partnered with cocktail historian David Wondrich to determine what city should take the cake, or should we say cocktail, as being the town for happy hour and more. Among the local bars cited as ‘must visits’ – PJ’s Lager House, Cliff Bell’s (pictured), Old Miami and more.
