Easy Listening / Lia Ices

With what may be some of the easiest lyrics to memorize ever, Lia Ices releases a taste of her new album. “Thousand Eyes” off of the upcoming “Ices” EP, out on Jagjaguwar Records, is a cross between Empire of the Sun & a drug-induced day dream. But those may be the same thing.

Don’t fall in love too quickly – the Lai Ices album isn’t released until September 16, but in the meantime keep with the artist here, and hope for an album-release-accommodating tour hitting your city in the fall.

Burning Man Rained Out

Nothing like heading out to a a festival in the dessert just to encounter monsoon rains. But that’s exactly what happened Monday, when the grounds of Burning Man in Black Rock playa were shut down for nearly the entire day due to torrential rainstorms. Anyone at the festival site was locked in, and everyone else was locked out – redirected back to the nearest city of Reno, Nevada.

The weather has now settled and it looks like clear skies on-site, which you can check out in the Ustream Live Burningman webcast. Try not to giggle when you see a grey furry bunny shaped vehicle go by, and don’t worry about averting your eyes from the nudity – the camera is zoomed out just enough.

Thought Provoking Moments: The VMAs Seating Chart

Digital media news & entertainment site Mashable got a sneak peek at the seating chart for tonight’s MTV VMAs. They noted the most interesting pairings – which internet bloggers and network execs alike would hope result in awkward/embarrassing/viral-content-inducing interactions. The top of their list: Ms. Miley seated next to Nicki Minaj, and cast members of Orange is the New Black getting coveted front row placements.

But our favorite part of the feature actually wasn’t the household names and where their bums will be residing for this evening’s award show, but rather the incredibly dapper seat holders helping out show producers as pictured here. To which we have to wonder, would Sir Green Suit Jacket maybe ask.. “Have you ever considered three chains?” One can only wish.

King 810 Album Release

King 810‘s debut record, pegged by ArtistDirect.com as, “one of the year’s most important heavy records”, is finally released today, August 19, 2014. Memoirs of a Murderer, available through Roadrunner Records, will feature 16 songs; Chrome Bumper Films was brought on the team to bring the vision of two of them to life.

Released in early July, “Fat Around the Heart” was shot on the streets of Flint, Michigan. Depicting what can only be described as an unfortunate child’s nightmare, the scenes of the video took place in an abandoned school, a dilapidated concrete maze, a mystical forest and the downtown of one of the roughest cities in Michigan.

Chrome Bumper Films and John ‘Quig’ Quigley were brought back in to direct King’s latest video release, “State of Nature”. With a vintage cinematography treatment, and imagery and references that will force you to think about life, the universe and everything else.. this is.. “State of Nature”:
