SXSW For Free

Probably one of the best things about a music festival taking over a city, outside of the music festival itself, are all of the other events that go down in tandem with the official event. As we mentioned earlier, SXSW is a tad expensive (but feel free to use your Platinum Mastercard right here). In the event that your bank account cannot accommodate the hefty price tag, get to work. And by work, we mean finding all the free events in Austin going on in this next week. We’ll help.

SXSW 2014 Commences

SXSW (South by Southwest) kicks off today in what is arguably the new music hub of Austin, Texas. But if you think the event is just a music festival, you’re thinking wrong (and the proof is in the price tag). SXSW runs from March 7-16th, and has three pillars: music, interactive (new media & games) & film. The 10 day-calendar is filled with everything from film premieres to job markets, gaming expos & live music. Of course with this much amazingness comes a price tag. To take full advantage of everything SXSW has to offer, guests must purchase a badge – and the fee runnith over a $1k withdrawal from your checking account.
