Just when you thought that you would forever have to reference cassette tapes as that endearing technology we bid farewell to with the introduction of the substantially less aesthetically pleasing CD, and eloquently describe this loving device to anyone born in 1990 or later.. well – it might be making a comeback. And it’s not coming back via Apple. Or Google. It’s a little underdog called Sony.
Sony has created a cassette tape (check.) that can hold 185 terabytes of data. #SayWhat?! That’s right. 185 terabytes of data. Just how much data is that? It’s so much that, according to Extreme Tech, it’s hard to even wrap your mind around. How much data is THAT? Let’s just say.. you could save every song, image, screenshot every website you ever visit + about 1 million cat pictures (high res.), and you wouldn’t even scratch (ahem) the surface.
