It’s Getting Hot in Here

Ever wonder what it would be like to see what sound waves would look like in fire? A team of Danish physicists have made exactly that happen. The sound waves are transmitted through a speaker connected to tubes containing flammable gas. When music is played, the corresponding sound waves are triggered and create what looks like a very well choreographed pyrotechnics show. Is this is coming to an Eminem concert near you? Doubtful.

The Atari Dump Excavation

This almost sounds too good (?) to be true (more like too unbelievable), but alas – this is happening. The ‘Atari Dump’ of the 80’s is being excavated. You might be asking yourself, are Atari games suddenly worth a lot of money? Do they behold a dated technology which now, in current times, is once again relevant. And valuable.

Well before you run to the basement to see if you still have any of the game cartridges of your youth still buried away in your stored treasures, we’ll cease the suspense and let you know that, no, they’re not valuable. But art is. And the art that will come from this is a potential documentary by modern-day game maker Fuel Entertainment.

Now you may be asking yourself – what is the tie in to the lovable, wildly successful movie, E.T. While the poor little guy made a great flick, and continues to live on as a timeless ride at Universal Studios, his video game didn’t do so well. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was the biggest flop for Atari in the history of the gaming company. So what will Fuel Industries find? For one, a lot of garbage. And two, Elliot’s best friends failed efforts in the word of gaming.

5 Reasons You Should Already Own Tickets to ACL

Today tickets went on sale for ACL, Austin City Limits. Back to back weekends in October (3-5th, 10-12th); entry price $225 for the three day event. Now let’s get into why you should already have an email confirming your ticket purchase. 5 Words: Beck, Temples, Chvrches (with a ‘v’), Mo and Eminem. These artists will be amongst the 100+ taking the stage at the Texas music festival. And unlike most cities, Austin gets two massive festivals per year – SXSW & ACL. While you may have already missed the spring set (don’t cry over spilled soup), just work on making it down south in t-6 months.

Beck, with our theme song for June 21st.

We caught Temples at Coachella 2014. Not disappointing. Now where is the lava lamp.

Chvrches, kills it. In sound and style.

Clap along. MØ.

And lastly, but certainly not least, this old friend. See more here.

Skrillex @ Coachella 2014

Skrillex closed out Saturday night at Coachella, and while we were there – in the 98 degree heat + sandstorms, with about 10k people watching the set in what looked like a temporary airport hanger, you can listen to the full thing right here. And from the comfort of your home.

Courtesy of Skrillex and Soundcloud, and even featuring a full playlist, here is Skrillex’s 2014 Day 2 Weekend 1 Coachella set. Want to catch him live? You can do that too. Here’s the upcoming tour.

Chvrches @ Coachella 2014

Chrvches, (get the spelling right – it’s a v not a u), performed yesterday at Coachella. Chrome Bumper Films was there to catch the Scottish synth pop group impressing the masses on Day 2 of Weekend 1. In black leather shorts & a sleeveless black t-shirt, Lauren Mayberry was the epitome of Coachella-street-style. The sound. Was good. We’re fans. Now. #dancedance.

Catch the break out indie band on tour this summer with stops across the US and Europe, and another festival appearance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza in Grant Park.
